Community college coursework may be used to satisfy any prerequisite coursework. However, applicants are encouraged to consider the academic rigor of their entire undergraduate course of study - especially the prerequisites - and ensure these provide the best representation of the applicant's ability to succeed in medical school.

Admission policies, in the school's words

Pass/Fail Coursework – We will accept pass/fail (or equivalent) grades for coursework completed during the COVID-19 pandemic or when dictated by undergraduate institutional policies for grading. However, to give us the best sense of your comparative academic preparation, we encourage as much coursework as possible be taken on a graded basis (vs. pass/fail). This is especially true for our prerequisites and all courses that fall under the Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Math (BCPM) category in AMCAS. Online Coursework and Labs – Online courses taken at accredited institutions are accepted toward our specified course prerequisites and general degree requirements. We would prefer lab courses to be taken in person (rather than virtual) but will accept online courses including online lab courses taken in the spring 2020 term and later. Medical Exposure/Experiences/Public Service – We strongly recommend in-person experiences in these areas. You may find it helpful to consult your pre-health advising center if you are still in college or as an alumnus. Additionally, you may want to research opportunities in your local community. Local volunteer organizations may have suggestions for acceptable opportunities as well. Accepted applicants may select "Plan to Enroll" beginning February 19. Applicants with multiple acceptances should narrow their choices to three schools by April 15. By April 30, applicants should select "Commit to Enroll" for their final choice of medical school, and withdraw acceptances from all other schools. If an accepted applicant is holding acceptances at schools other than UWSMPH after June 1, we reserve the right to rescind our acceptance. Applicants with extraordinary circumstances requiring additional time to make a final decision should contact our office as soon as possible. Applicants may remain on alternate lists at other medical schools after selecting "Commit to Enroll."
